Wednesday was our California Adventure day and we were there bright and early for rope drop. One of our first stops was Luigi's Rolickin' Roadsters and everyone had a great time in the dancing cars-- even Ellie though she looks nervous.
Morning full of fun rides: Mater's Junkyard Jamboree is one of Grandpa's faves!! Ellie patiently waiting for our turn on Toy Story Midway Mania and the big kids on California Screamin'!
We went to the Cove Bar for lunch and it is most definitely a hidden gem. The adults were able to enjoy delicious adult beverages (like this Mickey's Funwheel!) and we all shared a few plates of lobster nachos.
After lunch it was time for more rides-- like Ellie's favorite, the carousel, and pretending to ride California Screamin'-- notice Ellie in front of the car!
We got cut off by the parade so we watched for a bit-- the Toy Story crowd always seems to make everyone smile!
Waiting outside of Radiator Springs Racers-- we had to use child swap since Ellie is still too short.
After making our way through the whole park, Jacob and I headed over to Disneyland for the evening - ALONE!! - and left the kids with Grandma and Grandpa to go on a few more rides and then back to the hotel for bed. It was the first time over thirteen years that we'd been to Disneyland sans children!!
"Yo ho, yo ho...
... a pirate's life for me."
"of course, there's always my way"
"the happy haunts have received your sympathetic vibrations and are beginning to materialize"
"grim grinning ghosts come out to socialize"
We weren't planning to watch the fireworks in order to maximize ride time but we passed a nearly empty Rivers of America and just haaaaad to stop and watch.
We've been to Disneyland so many times over the years and almost always watch from Main Street but this was a fun alternative!
"Hang on to your hats and glasses, folks, 'cause this here's the wildest ride in the wilderness!"
Sweet statues around the hub.
Around midnight (park closing) we made our way back to the hub so that I could take pictures as the crowds were clearing out.
"Partners" statue: "I think most of all what I want Disneyland to be is a happy place... where parents and children can have fun... together."
Security ensuring that everyone is leaving the park and an empty Main Street.
Disneyland looks so different at night when the masses of people have left and it's eerily quiet.
Main Street Station-- the perfect end to a perfect night at Disneyland!
