snow day

snow day
We finally got another decent snowfall this winter and the kids were SOOOO excited, especially since it was still snowing when they woke up!  They quickly got bundled up in their snow gear and headed outside to play.

snow on her head
Poor Ellie, her daddy thinks it's funny to dump snow on her head!  She got back at him by throwing a snowball at Nicholas, LOLOL!!

ellie sledding
Ellie loves sledding down our street as long as someone pulls her up the hill and then makes sure that she doesn't fall off.

lexie in the snow
I love Lexie's bright pink pants-- they make her so easy to see in the snow!

more sledding
When one kid gets tired of pulling her around, she just switches siblings-- it's a good thing she has so many!

snow angels
Sweet snow angels!

sledding from the porch
Ellie figured out that she could sled down the hill from our front porch and wanted to do it over and over and over.

rolling down the hill
Lexie decided to roll down the hill instead of using a sled so Ellie switched to copy her big sis.  Both thought it was totally hilarious!

post-snow warmth and snack
After warming up by the fire, the girls took a bath and then enjoyed the new Yoplait Girl Scout Cookie yogurts for a snack.

Ellie's sledding video clip aired on NBC Nightly News!!

snow day two
The next morning the kids got bundled up and played in the snow for a few hours before it started to melt.  Snow days are always a favorite in our house, especially because we only have one or two a year!

road trip day thirty five: snow day

playing with diya
My high school best friend, Payal, and her family came over for dinner on our last weekend in Arizona.  The kids were so excited to meet and play with her two year old daughter, Diya, and had fun showing her all over Grandma and Grandpa's house.

snowballs one
After dinner, we headed outside to have a snowball fight (in the desert!) with Bahama Buck's snowballs.

snowballs two
The kids had fun throwing the snowballs at each other with only minimal crying when they (really, just Ellie) got hit in the head.

snowballs three
Snowballs are fun to throw and fun to eat!

snowballs four
The big kids decided that Grandpa needed snow down his shirt-- he was oh, so pleased!

snowballs five
Snowball fun!

two cute girls
Two sweet girls.  I'm sure that Ellie and Diya would be best friends if we lived a bit closer!

playing with the little people
After the snowball fight, the girls had a blast playing with the Little People from when Janne and I were kids.  I'm so glad that my parents kept our toys for all these years-- it was fun to watch my kids play with our old toys!

march randomness

boys go camping
Jacob took the boys camping for the weekend and the car was packed to the brim!

sweet girls
While the boys were gone, the girls went out to dinner and watched movies!

randoms
We had a fun lunch with Auntie Janne when she came into town.  Spring is the time of fun school things like crazy hair day and Learn, Create, and Share night!

snowy house
We had a late season (at least for us in North Carolina) snow and woke up to a couple of inches on the ground.

snowy drive
It was a snowy drive to church and by the time we left, it had all melted (which I totally forgot to take a picture of)!

st pat's
St Patrick's Day fun-- green ice cream at Chick-Fil-A and green tea at Target.

randomness
Randomness: Ellie loves all of the displays at Target... and she also loves napping in the car!  Fun dinner at Duckworth's and spring flowers.

mooresville tennis
Always the journalist, Christopher took pictures for the school news and yearbook while waiting for his tennis matches.

tennis match
Christopher decided to try out for the tennis team this year and had so much fun learning the game and growing as a player.

snow!!

snow!
The kids were SOOOOO excited that we had snow in the forecast (although a little bummed since it was a Friday night storm and probably wouldn't give them any snow days).  They kept a close watch on the weather all week and were squealing with joy when the snow started falling!

One of the perks of having a teenager!  After he did our driveway, he went around the neighborhood shoveling driveways with a friend.

snow day
We wrapped up our chilly snow day playing boardgames and everyone was ready for an early bedtime-- playing in the snow for a few hours (or shoveling driveways for six!) really wears you out!!
