end of the season soccer

friday night soccer
After listening to Lexie beg to play soccer for a couple of years, we finally let her play rec soccer and she just wrapped up the first season.  The last weekend of the season is their big tournament so she had a game Friday evening, Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon-- a full weekend of soccer!

playing goalie
In their last game she started out as goalie and did a great job making sure that the ball never made it into the goal!

soccer one
She moved up to forward (her fave place to be) for the rest of the game.

soccer two
She shoots.... she scores!!!

soccer three
For it being her first season, she's been surprisingly good at footwork-- and isn't afraid to go after the ball.

soccer four
She shoots... she scores again!!

soccer five
And again!!!  She had an awesome first season and is looking forward to continuing to play!

soccer and strawberries

watching soccer
Auntie Janne and Hannah came to see Lexie play soccer and while I didn't get a single picture of the game, I did get some of the spectators!

patterson farms
After soccer we went to Patterson Farms to pick strawberries- the girls loved going up and down the rows picking the biggest ones they could find.

she loves strawberries
Such a sweet strawberry lover!

strawberries
So many strawberries!!

auntie janne and hannah
It was fun being able to share with the experience with Auntie Janne and Hannah.

cow train
After we picked a couple gallons of strawberries, the girls wanted to ride the cow train.  I was impressed at how extensive the train ride was-- they were gone for almost ten minutes!!

Post-strawberry pickin' ice cream.

The little girls loved the playground and did NOT want to leave!

march randoms

the life of ellie
Some of Ellie's favorites: lots of accessories, naps on the couch, making pizza, and shopping at Target (especially with a cake pop from Starbucks!).

school stuff
March School Stuff: Ben and Lexie both celebrated Read Across America week with reading parties in their classes.
Nick gave a Tedx Talk on incorporating Minecraft into the curriculum at his school and tennis season started back up for Christopher.

tennis and dinner
While Grandma was here, we went to one of Christopher's away tennis matches and introduced her to City Barbeque for dinner!

pi day
We celebrated Pi Day with pizza for lunch at Ghostface Brewery and individual pies à la mode for dessert.

blue ridge biscuit company
While Grandma was in town, we took a trip to Black Mountain to check it out and started our day at the Blue Ridge Biscuit Company for brunch.

exploring black mountain
We spent the rest of the day exploring the streets of Black Mountain with its cute little shops.  Ellie helped stock the shelves at the book store and was excited to find a little library outside.

lexie's soccer game
Grandma's trip was timed perfectly to see Lexie's first soccer game-- and she made two goals!!

chick-fil-a and soccer
Since Christopher works at Chick-fil-A on Saturday mornings it has become a tradition to drop him off and grab breakfast before heading to the soccer fields.

day 116: soccer camp

Last week, Christopher attended a Soccer Academy on-post.  He's never played soccer before so I figured it would be a good learning experience before the season starts in September.  Aside from the fact that he had to get up early (it started at 8am), he had a blast.  He learned the rules of the game and had lots of fun.  He also decided that he likes being the goalie because he doesn't have to run as much!!

Foggy Flag
It was so humid out that the camera lens fogged up.

Christopher
Ready for the first day of camp!!

On a Mission
Lexie loved walking the track when we picked Christopher up.

Soccer Star
Tired after a long morning of soccer- but still smiling!!

Fab Four
The best group photo I could get!!  :)
